Letter from the Clerk of the [Foreign
Affairs] Committee
to the Head of the Parliamentary Relations Department, FCO, 16
February 1999
At its meeting this morning, the Committee expressed
its concern that there might have been a premature disclosure
to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the Committee's Second
Report of this Session (Sierra Leone).
The Committee was told that you were given embargoed
copies of the Report at 8 am on the day of publication, but that
no earlier copies were given to the Department by my Office.
I have been asked to write to the Department formally
to ask whether any copies of the Report, any drafts of the Report,
any amendments tabled by Members to drafts of the Report or any
other similar unpublished material was received by you before
8 am on February 9th 1999.
