Select Committee on Standards and Privileges Thirteenth and Fourteenth Report

ANNEX A

Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards from Mr Peter Ainsworth MP

I enclose a press cutting related to donations allegedly made by Mr Greg Dyke to the offices of Dr Marjorie Mowlam and Dr Jack Cunningham when they held the National Heritage brief in the last Parliament.[2] Having checked the Register of Members interests for the relevant periods, I can find no reference to this support. As you will see, the information about these donations appears to have come from Mr Dyke himself.

I wrote on Wednesday 16th June to Dr Mowlam and Dr Cunningham asking whether the information was correct and if so on what basis it was decided that no disclosure was required; I have to date received no reply, and feel it best, therefore, to refer the matter to you to see whether you believe that there is a prima facie case for further investigation.

I would also welcome clarification of the disclosure requirements in relation to the donation to Mr Blair's leadership campaign.

I look forward to hearing from you.
