B I L L TO Extend the duties of fire authorities in respect of fire prevention. BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- | |||||||||
Extension of duties of fire authorities. | 1. In section 1 of the Fire Services Act 1947 (provision of fire services), in subsection (1), after paragraph (f) insert- | ||||||||

Short title, commencement and extent. | 2. - (1) This Act may be cited as the Fire Prevention Act 2000. | ||||||||
(2) Section 1 comes into force on such day as may be appointed by order made by statutory instrument, and different days may be appointed for different areas. | |||||||||
(3) An order under subsection (2) is to be made- | |||||||||

(4) This Act extends to England and Wales only. |
