Commencement.     73. - (1) The following provisions of this Act come into force on the day on which this Act is passed-
 
 
    section 67(2) and (3),
 
    this section, and
 
    section 74.
      (2) The following provisions of this Act come into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the day on which this Act is passed-
 
 
    section 1 and Schedule 1,
 
    sections 3 to 11 and Schedule 3,
 
    sections 15 and 16,
 
    section 19,
 
    Chapters II and III of Part I,
 
    sections 38 to 41, and
 
    section 67(1) and Schedule 11.
      (3) Part II comes into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by order made by statutory instrument appoint.
 
      (4) The remaining provisions of this Act come into force on such day as the Secretary of State (as respects England) or the National Assembly for Wales (as respects Wales) may by order made by statutory instrument appoint.
 
      (5) Different days may be appointed under subsection (3) or (4) for different purposes or different areas.
 
      (6) An order under subsection (3) or (4) may contain such transitional provisions or savings (including provisions modifying the effect of any enactment) as appear to the Secretary of State or the National Assembly for Wales (as the case may be) to be necessary or expedient in connection with any provision brought into force by the order.
 
Interpretation, short title and extent.     74. - (1) In this Act-
 
 
    "the 1980 Act" means the Highways Act 1980;
 
    "the 1981 Act" means the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
      (2) This Act may be cited as the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.
 
      (3) Except as provided by section 63(2), this Act extends to England and Wales only.
