Mr. Field: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to his answer of 28 June 2000, Official Report, column 541W, on Electronic Data Systems, if he will list for each Department the (a) contracts and (b) framework agreements held with EDS. [128919]

Mr. Field: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list all the benchmarking exercises on Government contracts with Electronic Data Systems; and if he will place copies of the results in the Library. [131906]
Mr. Timms [holding answer 21 July 2000]: Information in the form requested is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. The Treasury's new Office of Government Commerce, which commenced operations on 1 April 2000, is giving a high priority to examining ways in which value for money from Government IT projects can be improved.
Mr. Matthew Taylor: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the cost to the Treasury of higher rate tax relief on contributions to personal pension plans and retirement annuity plans for the self-employed in each of the next five financial years; and if he will make a statement. [129825]
Miss Melanie Johnson [holding answer 10 July 2000]: I will write to the hon. Member and place a copy of my letter in the Library of the House.
Sir Teddy Taylor: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much has been spent to date by HM Government on the publication and distribution of information relating to the introduction of the euro; and what further spending is planned. [129449]
Miss Melanie Johnson [holding answer 10 July 2000]: Since 1998 the Treasury has spent £8.8 million on information to help UK firms understand the impact that the euro may have on their business and to provide them with practical advice.
The Treasury will continue to provide support to firms.
Mr. Matthew Taylor: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the progress of the UK retail financial sector in preparedness for membership of the euro; and if he will make a statement. [131587]
Miss Melanie Johnson [holding answer 20 July 2000]: I refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer I gave him on 24 July 2000, Official Report, column 420W.
Mr. Matthew Taylor: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the net revenue yield over the next five financial years of reintroducing a system of indexation of capital gains from 6 April 2001 and simultaneously abolishing taper relief from the same date; and if he will make a statement. [130274]
Dawn Primarolo [holding answer 13 July 2000]: The net revenue yield from reintroducing indexation and abolishing taper is estimated to be £400 million for the first year, most of which would be received in the following year. Estimates thereafter are highly dependent on assumed growth in asset values.
