Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

Supplementary memorandum submitted by the British Amateur Rugby League Association

Further to the oral and written evidence given by the British Amateur Rugby League Association to the above inquiry could you please note the following additional evidence in relation to item 100 ie "None of the money from the television deals goes down to the grass roots of the game".

BARLA believes that 5 per cent of income from all sources to the professional game should be utilised directly for the benefit of the amateur game. Furthermore 50 per cent of the body to be charged with the allocation and utilisation of such monies should be nominated by BARLA. An equivalent vehicle currently in place is a charitable trust entitled the Rugby League Foundation.

It would be appreciated if the foregoing could be admitted as additional written evidence by BARLA.
