The Committee's recommendation on publication
of the Bill in draft
COMMITTEE REPORT
52. The Committee pointed to the value of pre-legislative
scrutiny and in particular the role that the Deregulation Committees
of both Houses could usefully play in giving consideration to
a draft of the Bill to amend the DCOA. The Committee strongly
recommended that the Bill be produced in draft for consideration
by the Committees of both Houses.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
53. The Government recognises the value of input
by the Deregulation Committees of both Houses in framing this
piece of legislation. It intends giving both Committees the opportunity
to comment on draft legislation before introduction if at all
possible, although this will be dependent on Parliamentary timetabling.
