Select Committee on Deregulation First Report

Letter from the Clerk of the Committee to The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

The Deregulation Committee has asked me to write to thank you for your full and considered response to our request for further information on the above draft Order and to further canvass your views on the following matter.

The Committee has noted that the Royal Borough has a substantial number of licensed premises with residential property in close proximity.

It would be particularly interested to know why your Council has not found provisions contained in Schedule 12 to the London Government Act 1963 adequate to enable it, as licensing authority, to provide sufficient safeguards for residents.
