Letter to the Water Companies from Robert

FEEDBACK SURVEY ON DWI PERFORMANCE IN 1998
You will have received Information Letter 2/99
dated 14 January from the Drinking Water Inspectorate introducing
the survey which I am undertaking on the Inspectorate's behalf.
As has been explained to you the Water Companies are not being
asked to complete a questionnaire as in previous years. Instead
I have been asked to speak to the relevant people in all the Companies
and also at Water UK to obtain feedback on key aspects of DWI's
performance. To make that task easier both for you and for me
I have prepared a checklist of questions which you will find enclosed.
I believe this represents an important opportunity
for Water Companies to provide valuable feedback to the Inspectorate
which can bring benefits to both parties concerned. As far as
it is practicable, confidentiality will be preserved in a way
which will avoid any adverse effects upon future working relationships
between Companies and DWI.
In each company the Inspectorate has a board
level contact and one or more day-to-day contacts. It is clearly
essential for me to speak to at least one of the day-to-day contacts
in each company and I hope that I shall also be able to speak
to a number of board level contacts across the industry to solicit
their views.
In view of the number of Companies concerned
I have been asked to carry out the survey principally by telephone
but I plan to visit some companiesboth WSCs and WOCs. In
the case of your company I should like to have a meeting at your
offices at a time convenient to you. Would you please let me know
whom you wish me to speak to in your Company to obtain the necessary
feedback and confirm that you are content for me to make arrangements
with them directly.
I look forward to hearing from you. If you have
any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
