SURVEY SEPTEMBER 1999

  A3.1  In order to obtain an update on modal shift the SYPTE carried out a survey among Supertram users. In total some 3,070 users were surveyed to give a representative sample of current usage. A number of questions were asked including one on modal shift the results being as follows:

  Amongst the former car drivers 44 per cent were commuters. Supertram has been particularly successful in attracting peak car users.
