Letter to Mr George Scarrott from Quenington Parish Council

For as long as I can remember we have had a travelling fair visit the village of Quenington. I myself have lived here for 58 years. To begin with it was Coles fun fair, which came just for the flower show and was also open on other days.

On the first day a dance would be held on the dodgem track, latterly we have had Scarrots fun fair, and its main day for opening is on the Saturday and this date is known as Quenington feast.

So as you can see a travelling fair has visited this village for many years, it is one of the highlights in the village for young and old alike, and now takes place on the village green, and is made most welcome by us all.

Long may it last, and hopefully there will still be people like the Scarrott family to carry this welcome tradition for many years to come.

J W Moaby

Chairman Quenington Parish Council
