(a) The Department of the Environment, Transport and Regions'
report, Road Goods Vehicles Travelling to Mainland Europe Q4 1998,
shows 726,000 foreign registered vehicles left the UKand
therefore the same number entered and worked in the UK.
(b) This is a 21 per cent increase on 1997 (598,000) and
a 50 per cent increase on 1996 (484,000).
(c) The number of UK registered vehicles travelling to
Europe was unchanged at 544,000.
