CONSULTANCIES AND RESEARCH CONTRACT COSTS

  The Department employs consultants and commissions research to help inform the development and implementation of policy. Consultants are also employed to help deliver services necessary for the effective and efficient running of the Department.

  Listed below are details of all contracts let by DETR(C) worth £15,000 or more, current in the financial year 2000-01.

  The "Estimated Total" column represents the total expected spending on that contract and may be spread over several financial years.

1  Contract let to support the programme known as the Radon Measurement and Support for Remedial Works Campaigns in England as specified in the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes Order 2000.

2  This contact has been let for the duration of the 3-year programme. The total maximum liability of the contract is £112,323. This equates to approximately £37,000 per year, but total yearly costs may be less due to advantageous discount arrangements.
