30 May 1999Air strike against Varvarin bridge, accidentally kills at least nine civilians.   
31 May 1999French FOCH Task Group departs Adriatic, taking HMS GRAFTON (which had been operating as part of Task Group) with it. GAC reaffirms full support for Ahtisaari's mission and calls on Belgrade to make a firm commitment to a political settlement.
1 June 1999   KFOR Force Generation Conference.
2 June 1999   Ahtisaari and Chernomyrdin have meetings with Milosevic in Belgrade.

In a speech to US Air Force Academy, Colorado, President Clinton makes clear that US has not ruled out options beyond bombing to bring about a resolution. This line is repeated by Defense Secretary Cohen on 3 June.

ICJ rejects FRY request for it to call upon NATO states to stop bombing.

Defence Secretary telephones Macedonian Prime Minister Georgievski to inform him of plans to deploy further UK forces to his country in preparation for a quick move into Kosovo in the event of a settlement.
3 June 1999   Milosevic agrees to document presented by Chernomyrdin and Ahtisaari.

G7 Political Directors meet in Cologne.

UK chairs ground clearing meeting of UK/US/French/German/Italian experts in Brussels on civilian implementation.

Foreign Secretary speaks by telephone to his US/French/German/Italian colleagues.
4 June 1999German human rights group estimates that at least 30,000 Kosovars have been killed, possibly many more. Defence Secretary agrees to reduce the notice move of 3 infantry battalions previously earmarked for KFOR+, and the early deployment of some elements of these enhancements to Macedonia. With their supporting elements, the total UK contribution for KFOR+ amounts potentially to some 13,000. The Defence Secretary also agrees to the deployment to Macedonia of Support Helicopter Force. Announced by Air Marshal Sir John Day at MoD press conference.
5 June 1999   Talks on Military Technical Agreement begin on Kosovo/Macedonia border.
7-8 June 1999   G8 Foreign Ministers meet in Bonn/Cologne and agree draft SCR. Russians agree to co-sponsor.
8 June 1999   Prime Minister makes statement to House of Commons on the Cologne Summit and Kosovo.
9 June 1999Signature of Military Technical Agreement by COMKFOR, Col Gen Marjanovic (VJ Chief of the General Staff) and Lt Gen Stevanovic (MUP), providing for withdrawal of FRY/Serb forces from Kosovo. NAC approves KFOR OPLAN (Operation JOINT GUARDIAN—Oplan 10413); authorises KFOR Rules of Engagement and authorises KFOR ACTORD.

Defence Secretary makes statement to House of Commons on signature of Military Technical Agreement.
10 June 1999Serb forces begin to withdraw from Kosovo.

Pentagon releases evidence of Serbs trying to conceal atrocities.
NATO Secretary General announces bombing campaign has been suspended.

UNSCR 1244 adopted.

Statement by Minister for Defence Procurement in House of Lords on Kosovo.
11 June 1999Russian troops arrive in Pristina and occupy airport.

MCMFORNORTH (HMS BULLDOG/HMS SANDOWN) and MCMFORMED (HMS ATHERSTONE) deployed to Adriatic for unexploded ordnance clearance operations.
  
12 June 1999KFOR troops enter Kosovo.
