FCO Minister of State, Peter Hain made the following
statement regarding the recent violence in Haram al-Sharif in
Jerusalem:
"We are deeply saddened and greatly concerned
by the violence today and yesterday at the Haram al-Sharif in
Jerusalem which has led to deaths and many injured at such a holy
site. We are also gravely concerned over recent terrorist violence.
We urgently call for immediate restraint by all and an end to
provocations and confrontation. Violence of any form at this time
can only undermine the prospects for successful peace negotiations."
