Select Committee on Home Affairs Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 37

Letter from Mr David Penn, Imperial War Museum to the Clerk of the Committee

INQUIRY INTO CONTROLS OVER FIREARMS

I am replying to your call for written evidence on behalf of my Director General, Mr Robert Crawford.

The Imperial War Museum holds the National Collection of Modern Firearms, which provides a significant resource for researchers.

Should the Committee's deliberations include the collection and study of firearms, it is this Museum's hope that they would not result in proposals which, if translated into law, would impinge disadvantageously on the legitimate activities of duly licensed Museums or of researchers and collectors.

D J Penn FSA

Keeper of the Department of Exhibits and Firearms
