Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): final figure of 402 and not 400 as reported for the PFI scheme.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): final total number of PFI beds was reduced from 465 to 444 due to change in planning for the provision of rehabilitation services.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): final total number of PFI beds is 542 and not 537 (an addition error has been corrected).

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): 144 beds are being added as part of PFI scheme following a service review after the PFI contract was signed.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): previously reported figures for "beds at present" and "provided by PFI solution" did not include day case beds.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): final approval number approved number of beds under PFI rose from 565 to 571.

Only case where Private Patient Beds separately identified because many schemes either do not have them or the effect is neutral ie same number will be provided at the new hospital as there are currently (final number at Calderdale fell from planned 20 to 10).

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): earlier figure of 796 included 46 obstetric cots; these have been removed to ensure like with like comparison with OBC and PFI figures, which do not include these cots in their totals.

A total figure of 882 overnight beds (minus the day case beds) was supplied to the Health Select Committee in June 2000; this is in fact the OBC figure and was a reporting error.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): PFI beds has increased from 881 to 1,031 for two reasons: (i) projected increase in demand for heart transplants and obstetrics and gynaecology services; (ii) an addition of 60 surgical and 28 unallocated beds was recently agreed after the NBI compliance exercise in June 2000.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): the OBC and PFI bed figures have increased by 15 and 18 respectively: they include SCBU cots which were excluded from the previous figures.

Figure provided of 396 for acute beds provided to the Health Committee in June 2000 was incorrect: it should have been 429.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): earlier return of 406 for total of current beds did not include maternity beds.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): 84 beds were added following a review of acute in-patient services in South Worcester which led to the closure of Kidderminster hospital.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): change in reconfiguration and Trust mergers over the long preparation period for this project lead to some confusion in the reporting of bed numbers: the 308 for current numbers reported in Hansard did not include consideration of the 46 elderly care beds at Tindall Crescent which are being transferred under the PFI scheme. These beds are therefore now included to ensure a like with like comparison with the reporting of the OBC and PFI figures.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): the PFI bed figure has increased from 980 to 1,010 due to 30 Spinal Injuries beds incorporated into the scheme as a consequence of planned move of Northern Regional Centre from Hexham to South Tees.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): due to reporting error the earlier Hansard figures included local beds not directly affected by the scheme in the "beds at present" total but not in the OBC or PFI figures; this has now been corrected to include the 68 other local beds in the totals for the OBC and PFI figures. Earlier OBC figure also excluded day case beds.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): figures for the number of beds at present, proposed in the OBC and under the PFI option now include maternity beds to ensure a like with like comparison with the reporting of the other schemes.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): figures for the number of beds at present, proposed in the OBC and under PFI option now include day-case beds to ensure a like with like comparison with the reporting of the other schemes.

Differs from figure given in Hansard (2 February 1999 Volume 596 Column 202-206): figures for the number of beds at present, proposed in the OBC and under the PFI option differ considerably due to the major changes in scope and site configuration since previously reported. NBI compliance exercise did not differentiate between G&A and maternity services because affect was almost neutral between current (June 2000) position and under PFI solution.
