Select Committee on Northern Ireland Affairs Minutes of Evidence

Further memorandum submitted by the Northern Ireland Economic Council

RE: INQUIRY ON INWARD INVESTMENT

Dr Gorecki offered to supplement the information contained in the Table below of the Council's submission to the Committee on the destination of new inward investment projects in Europe. Specifically, he undertook to provide information on each country's share of population, as a comparator against which to assess the share of projects received by each country. The figures show that Northern Ireland's share of inward investment into Europe in 1995 is over eight times its share of population. Northern Ireland is surpassed only by the Republic of Ireland where inward investment is over 23 times its share of population.
