The enclosed timetable of events demonstrates
the slow progress from inception to first patient enrolment in
the most recent MRC prostate study. Surely this could be improved!
PR07 TIMETABLE
1. October 1996: Trial outline discussed
by MRC Prostate Cancer Planning Group.
2. November 1996: Survey sent to c50 clinicians
to gauge interest.
3. April 1997: Planning Group approval to
go ahead with trial of this design.
4. Late Spring 1997: Outline proposal submitted
to CTC.
5. Summer 1997: Outline proposal approved
by CTC (alpha +).
6. Spring 1998: Full proposal submitted
to MRC Boards.
7. 27 July 1998: Funding decision deferred
due to lower rating (despite previous alpha +).
8. 5 November 1998: Funding approval for
full proposal.
9. February 1999: Submission to MREC.
10. 3 March 1999 : Approval by MREC.
11. 30 June 1999: First patient randomised
into MRC PR07.
