Select Committee on Science and Technology Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 56

Letter to the Clerk of the Committee from Dr Ellen C G Grant

The MP Mrs Helen Brinton asked me to send you copies of our Lancet and BMJ letters. I also include a copy of a recent letter to Professor Breckenridge of the CSM[27]. The facts show that a main cause of cancer in women is the use of exogenous sex hormones—the Pill and HRT. There is no need for HRT and the Pill is now mostly given to very young women who are at most risk of developing cancer later. This is an age group which mostly did not risk penetrative sex in the 1960s and their education has been very unbalanced since then. I am abroad from 14-18th June but am usually in Kingston.
