Letter to the Chairman of the Committee
from the Secretary of State for Wales.
I am pleased to enclose the Government response to
your report on European Structural Funds. This is in the form
of a memorandum, which I have agreed with my Ministerial colleagues
in the Treasury, Department of Trade and Industry, Department
for Education and Employment, Department of the Environment, Transport
and the Regions, Scotland Office and Northern Ireland Office.
Many of the conclusions and recommendations fall
within the remit of the National Assembly for Wales, and I know
that the First Secretary submitted his response on 7 March. One
recommendation also falls jointly to the Government and the National
Assembly, and work to address this recommendation is being taken
forward separately.
