B I L L

TO

Amend the law on the registration and regulation of private dental practitioners; and for connected purposes.

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
 

Registration and regulation of private dental practitioners.     1. - (1) The Care Standards Act 2000 is amended as follows.
 
      (2) In section 2 (independent hospitals etc.), after the words "medical practitioners" in the first place in which they occur in subsection (4) there shall be inserted "or dental practitioners".
 
      (3) In section 22 (regulation of establishments and agencies), after the words "securing that any medical" in subsection (7)(k) there shall be inserted ", dental".
 
Short title and commencement.     2. - (1) This Act may be cited as the Private Dental Practitioners Act 2001.
 
      (2) This Act shall come into force at the end of the period of three months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
