Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

Further supplementary memorandum submitted by The People's Lottery

Following on from the visit of the Select Committee to see AWI in the United States, I have been asked to confirm what ancillary uses for the terminal were included within The People's Lottery's Bid.

They were (and are) as follows:

    (i)  Mobile telephony top-up

    (ii)  Social Housing Rent Payments

    (iii)  TV Licensing

    (iv)  Road Fund-Licensing

In addition, two other uses were identified; although no business model was provided; namely:

    (i)  Elections (general, local, European etc)

(ii)  An electronic purse (whereby benefits would be paid via lottery terminals)

However, it should be noted that none of the ancillary uses has been discussed with the National Lottery Commission; and while no hard and fast rules have been made either about which retailers (if not all of them) these services would be available from, the Post Office would obviously be key.
