Select Committee on Home Affairs Minutes of Evidence

Examination of Witnesses (Questions 340 - 341)

THURSDAY 20 JULY 2000

PROFESSOR GUY GOODWIN-GILL AND MS HOPE HANLAN

  340. Right.
(Ms Hanlan) Personally I have not but there is a standing invitation to do so.

  341. I will not ask you about that.
(Ms Hanlan) I can tell you that the reports we have received from Oakington are very positive to the point where we have phoned and spoken to the Home Secretary's office to say that we find that the experiment is very positive and very valid.

Chairman: I think you are not alone in that, as you may hear before the afternoon is over. Okay. Thank you very much indeed, Ms Hanlan and Professor Goodwin-Gill for your help. As ever, as witnesses do have a habit of, they give us a great deal to think about but that is why we are here and you are here. Thank you. We will swap sides, if we may. You are more than welcome to stay if you like, but do not feel you have to.
