Memorandum submitted by Dr Elaine M Drage, Director, Trade Policy 2, Department of Trade and Industry

  1.  In response to the International Development Committee deliberations recently, the DTI undertook to provide the following attached information:

    (i)  Annual figure for prosecutions for corruption 1993-99.

    (ii)  Latest OECD review on Codes of Conduct (2000), though you should be aware that some of the documentation they reviewed is now 3-4 years old (not printed).

    (iii)  R v Raud case (not printed).

  2.  We also offered to provide information on the OECD's evaluations of other countries in respect of their compliance with the Bribery Convention. The best way to access this material is through the OECD website which contains all the OECD Bribery Working Group Phase I country evaluations.
