Select Committee on Northern Ireland Affairs Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 5

Extract from a letter from the Northern Ireland Office to the Clerk of the Committee

Thank you for your letter of 8 March. I apologise for the delay in responding.

On your first query about transport expenditure, DRD have been able to obtain a copy of projections prepared by DETR for Northern Ireland's "Barnett share" of the increases in capital expenditure in roads and transport for England, as set out in Transport 2010.

In the attached table, the estimated "Barnett share" has been added to a provisional cash baseline for roads and transport expenditure in 2001-02 to give projections for the total investment in Northern Ireland, in cash terms. DRD have apologised for the earlier confusion and hope that these figures answer your query.
