  Sir John Vereker, KCB, Permanent Secretary; Dr Mukesh Kapila, Head of Conflict and Humanitarian Affairs Department; Mr David Sands Smith, Head of Aid Policy, the Department for International Development; Mr Peter Berry, Executive Chairman; Mr Alan Matthews, Head of the Department for International Development's Emergency Response Team, the Crown Agents, were examined (HC 641-i).

  Ordered, That the draft Report be read a second time, paragraph by paragraph.

  Paragraphs 1 to 3 read and agreed to.

  Paragraph 4 postponed.

  Paragraphs 5 to 41 read and agreed to.

  Postponed paragraph 4 read and agreed to.

  Resolved, That the Report be the Third Report of the Committee to the House.

  Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.

  Ordered, That the provisions of Standing Order No. 134 (Select Committees (Reports)) be applied to the Report.

  A paper (PAC/2000-01/4) was ordered to be appended to the Minutes of Evidence.

  Ordered, That the Appendix to the Minutes of Evidence taken before the Committee be reported to the House.—(The Chairman).
