Mr Tim Burr, Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General, was further examined.

The Committee deliberated.

Mr Brian Glicksman, Treasury Officer of Accounts, was further examined.

The Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the Ministry of Defence: Managing Reductions in the Number of Vacant Family Quarters (HC 435) was considered.

Mr Kevin Tebbit, CMG, Permanent Under-Secretary of State, and Air Marshal Malcolm Pledge, OBE, the Ministry of Defence, and Mr John Wilson, Chief Executive, the Defence Housing Executive were examined (HC 943-i).

Paragraphs 6 to 62 read and agreed to.

Postponed paragraph 5 again read and agreed to.

Resolved, That the Report be the Fourteenth Report of the Committee to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.

Ordered, That the provisions of Standing Order No. 134 (Select Committees (Reports)) be applied to the Report.
