The Research Group will carry out research on
the future of social policy within an ageing society. The research
will examine the social and economic experiences of older people
today and how these differ from the likely profile of future older
people. Patterns of family formation, educational experience,
participation in the labour market and the accumulation of resources
will be examined. At the heart of this is the construction and
use of a dynamic micro-simulation model, which will simulate life
course trajectories to 2020. This will also create a unique national
research with which to make evidence-based social policy projections
for the twenty-first century.
