Definitions
Cognition: research in Alzheimer's disease, general
age related cognitive problems and related rehabilition, and age-related
vision and hearing problems.
Mobility and incontinence: research into musculoskeletal
problems, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, Parkinson's disease, incontinence
and other problems of co-ordination.
General health: research that cuts across several
health areas, such as work on the value of active screening of
elderly people; effectiveness of health services; and social,
dietary and lifestyle factors linked to general good healh, or
more than one illness, in old age.
Cardiovascular problems of old age: research into
congestive heart failure, venous-leg ulcers, and other circulatory
problems mainly associated with old age.
