Select Committee on Standards and Privileges Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 18

Letter to the Clerk of the Committee on Standards and Privileges from Mr Mark Stephens, Finers Stephens Innocent, Solicitors

JAFFER KAPASI

The threat in your letter of 15 February 2001 is entirely gratuitous, as Mr Kapasi has always made clear from his own voluntary statements that he is prepared to go through his books of account with a person other than the Commissioner. Perhaps you would let us have dates and times at which Sir Robert Sheldon will be available to meet. My client and I will be pleased to attend for the purposes of enabling the Chairman to review the accounts.

Please would you advise as to what notice Mr Kapasi will be given of the Committee's publication and whether it is intended to respond to any of the currently outstanding matters in correspondence.

21 February 2001
