Letter to the Directors of Mapesbury Communications
Ltd from Hard Dowdy, Chartered Accountants
Thank you for your letter of 24th January.
We note that the Parliamentary Commissioner requires
information concerning Mr Keith Vaz, MP, and Mapesbury Communications
Ltd.
We hope that the following will assist:
(1) We commenced acting as Accountants for the
Company in May 1998 and confirm that as the Directors considered
that the Company was exempt from an audit under Section 249a(2)
of the Companies Act 1985 we compiled unaudited Accounts for the
years ended 31st October 1997, 1998 and 1999 from the accounting
records, information and explanations supplied to us.
During the course of this work we found no payments
to Mr Vaz personally or to his Office.
(2) The turnover in the Accounts represents income
derived from the provision of goods and services relating to the
Company's principal activities of publishing and public relations.
(3) We have seen the Accounts for the year to
31st October 1996 showing a Net Profit and these Accounts include
the comparative figures for the period from 20th October 1994
to 31st October 1995 showing a loss.
