Letter to Ms Maria Fernandes, Mapesbury Communications Ltd, from Hard Dowdy, Chartered Accountants

MAPESBURY COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Thank you for sight of the letter from the Committee on Standards and Privileges dated 13th February 2001.

Further to our letters of 26th January and 15th February 2001, we confirm that we prepared the Accounts for the years ended 31st October 1997, 31st October 1998 and 31st October 1999 from the accounting records, from information and explanations supplied to us and are in accordance therewith.

(1)  We confirm that, as stated in our letter of 26th January 2001, during the course of our work relating to the above mentioned Accounts, we found no payments to Mr Vaz personally or to his office.

(2)  We confirm that we have returned all financial records to the Company as is normal practice.

(3)  We have no recollection of seeing any payments made from a Sarosh Zaiwalla to the Company. However, before we are able to confirm that no payments from him were included in the Company's Turnover for the above mentioned years and before we can provide you with a summary of individual amounts received of £1,000 or more included therein, we do require to re-examine the Company's records.

(4)  We confirm that all expenditure appearing in the above mentioned Accounts over £1,000 solely relate to Salaries, PAYE and National Insurance Contributions.

(5)  Turnover shown in these Accounts, as mentioned in our letter of 26th January 2001, relates to the Company's principal activities.
