Annex 1A
Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from Mr Andrew J Milne
I write further to my letter dated 4 February
2000.
I was astonished to see in the weekend press
that Mr Vaz described my allegation as a "malicious falsehood".
I believe that there is a quick and conclusive way of resolving
who is telling the truth concerning the £2,000 in cash which
Mr Vaz received from Mr Zaiwalla in 1994. I would propose that
you arrange for me to take a polygraph (lie detector) test. I
would also challenge Mr Vaz to do so.
I look forward to hearing from you of the time
and place of the test.
I would be grateful if you will communicate
this offer to Mr Vaz. If you decline to arrange such a test and
Mr Vaz makes any further public statements denying that he took
the cash I will be forced to consider allowing a national newspaper
to administer such a test and having the results published to
answer Mr Vaz's denials.
