Press Release from the Labour Party

LEICESTER ENQUIRY

On Thursday 24 August 1994 an Enquiry was held into the Labour Party Organisation in the City of Leicester. The Enquiry Panel sat all day and received 20 verbal submissions and a number of written submissions on a range of Party related issues.

The Panel was grateful to all those who took the trouble to attend.

The Panel recognised that there were problems identified in regard to membership and have instructed the Regional Office to take all the necessary constitutional and organisational steps to rectify the problems raised.

The Panel has now completed its work and it is not intended to meet again. The investigation is therefore concluded. The Panel will not make any further recommendations.
