TELEPHONE CALL
FROM COUNCILLOR
KAMAL.
Having received my letter. He was ringing to
check whether Mr Vaz had had a copy of his letter to me as he
was very anxious about whether there would be retaliation.
I said yes, of course, I had had to put all
the matters in front of Mr Vaz and I had done so and it was on
that basis that he had made the replies which I had now sent to
Councillor Kamal for his comment.
He said he understood that but he was very worried
that there would be retaliation against him and he had a wife
and family. I asked him why he thought that and he said it is
the sort of thing that happens here and he had heard of it from
his supporters. I said I was very concerned to hear this and that
if he had any information of any form of retaliation he should
let me know immediately and I would make sure that he was offered
what protection was available. He said he was very reassured by
my response. I thanked him for bravely setting down his view of
events.
He said that he had not kept a copy of the letter
that he had written to me and asked me to send him a copy so that
he could reply properly to my letter. I agreed to this.
