Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from Mr Jaffer A Kapasi OBE DL MKD and note by the
Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards
Thank you for your letter of 5 May 2000.
I can confirm that I have no recollection of
a conversation with Sir Peter Soulsby or for that matter any one
else with regards to a request (s) for a campaign contribution.
Furthermore I would reiterate that at no time have I made a payment
to Mr K Vaz MP nor indeed has a payment been requested. The only
exception was a payment of £52.00 made to Sahara Trust of
which Mr K Vaz is a trustee and that I have a receipt of it. This
has been declared in my previous correspondence to you.
I would also like to take this opportunity to
thank you for bringing to my attention the comments of the letter
written by Sir Peter Soulsby which makes direct reference to me
and my community. I am in the process of taking legal advice regarding
the contents of the letter.

will come to see me on 25 with his lawyer. He will reply to my
letter re Sunday Times.
