Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from Mr Kevin Reid
I refer to your letter of the 7th of June, a copy
of which was faxed to me by your office on the 19th June.
I refer you to the content of my previous letter
of 31st of May.
To be quite clear, I personally have not requested,
or received, or been provided with a financial reference from
the Labour party.
I did apply for a Mortgage in April 1999, after I
had received a permanent job offer from another company, which
I had accepted. The lender involved was Northern Rock. I assume
Northern Rock will have obtained a reference from the Labour Party.
I have no knowledge of the details of any financial reference
which may have been provided by the Labour Party on my behalf.
At the time of applying for this mortgage, I had
not worked for my father for over six months.
