Select Committee on Standards and Privileges Second Report

Annex 103

File note by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards

    Chris Winslow
    23 March 2000
    Telephone call with Chris Winslow

I had a lengthy conversation with Chris Winslow in which he was extremely agitated and very anxious about the coming to see me. I explained the process in detail, made it clear that he was welcome to bring somebody with him, making clear that all I needed was him to tell me was the truth and that I wanted the opportunity to be given to him to talk to me and clarify things since I had got evidence which was at variance with his.

We agreed that I would write to him to invite him to come and see me, that he would take advice and decide whether he would. I explained to him that the Committee might still require him to come either to see me or them. But that I hoped that wouldn`t be necessary. He said he would then let me know whether he as able to come and when. I made it clear that he was welcome to bring somebody with him as well.
