Annex 208
Letter to Mr Andrew Walker, Director of
Finance and Administration, House of Commons, from the Registrar
of Members` Interests
May I ask you, on behalf of the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards, for some further assistance, please, in connection
with the Commissioner`s investigation into complaints against
Dr John Reid and Mr John Maxton?
I attach copies of the pay slips, supplied by the
Labour Party, for Kevin Reid and Chris Winslow. The copies are
not as clear as they might be and in nearly every case the name
of the employee concerned is obscured. It is clear, however, from
the respective employee numbers (00697 and 00696) that there are
two sets of pay slips covering the twelve months period, approximately,
between May/June 1998 and June 1999. It is also clear from the
few pages of documents where the name is just legible that 00697
relates to Mr Reid and 00696 to Mr Winslow.
Would it be possible, please, to analyse these documents
and give us your opinion as to what they indicate were the amounts
actually paid by the Party to Mr Reid and Mr Winslow in the period
covered by the pay slips and how that relates to:
Perhaps you could also indicate how the 10% employer`s
National Insurance contributions affect the comparisons. (Incidentally,
could you confirm, please whether 10% is the correct figure?)
An early reply would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.
