Annex 12
Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from the Rt Hon Dr John Reid MP
Thank you for your letter of 14 April. It is helpful
to have the clarification of the term "official meeting".
I am also obliged for your statement that the complaint by Mr
Nelson has not been extended in any way.
I note you write that illness has prevented the conclusion
of all your enquiries. I further note that you will provide me
with details of your enquiries.
In the circumstances it would be better to await
conclusion of your enquiries before our meeting proceeds. As you
are aware, I wish to be advised of the content of any statements,
documents or other materials your enquiries have produced in order
that I may best be able to explain or clarify any areas of concern
you may have. Given that conclusion of your enquiries is presumably
some time off a meeting can be arranged thereafter.
In the meantime if there is any evidence which you
have collected which seems to you to be, as you put it, at variance
with my statement, I would be pleased to be informed of what this
might be.
