Annex 50
Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from Mr John Maxton MP
I write to confirm that I will meet you at 17.00
hours on Monday 17th April 2000 subject to no airline delays on
that day. I am surprised that to date I have not received your
confirmation of the meeting.
This meeting is at your request. I note that you
have agreed to give me all the evidence you have received that
you believe may contradict anything I said in my original statement
to you in writing prior to the meeting. This must specify the
dates the evidence was received and from whom. Any statements
must be signed by the person who gave the evidence as a true record
of what they said to you. Preferably I would prefer you to send
me copies of all the evidence you have received in relation to
this unsubstantiated allegation.
Lastly and most importantly I ask yet again for the
evidence that Mr Dean Nelson submitted to you in support of his
allegations against me prior to your responding to the press that
you were instituting an inquiry and informing me that you were
doing so.
