Letter to Mr John Maxton MP from the Parliamentary
Commissioner for Standards
I am sorry to hear that you are unwilling to meet
me on Monday next to allow me to check your response to the complaint
and for me to make sure I have a full picture from you.
As I have said previously, as soon as I have completed
my enquiries I will put to you any information I have which is
at variance with what you have given me so that you may comment
on it before I take any decisions on what I should report to the
Standards and Privileges Committee.
If you prefer it you may, of course, make comment
to me in writing but I should make it clear that I continue to
offer you the opportunity of meeting me to discuss the matters
and that I may need to invite you to meet me should I feel that
to be necessary.
