Select Committee on Welsh Affairs Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 29

Letter from the Spanish Embassy

Thank you for your letter of 29 November in which you inform me of the inquiry you are conducting entitled "Wales in the World: the role of the UK Government in promoting Wales abroad".

With regard to your question concerning the possibility of establishing a Spanish Consulate in Wales, I can inform you that the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no plans to set up a Consulate General in the near future. However, there is a Spanish Honorary Consulate in Cardiff.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest, and should you require further information on this subject, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The Marques de Tamaron

Ambassador
