APPENDIX 31
Letter from the Norwegian Embassy
The Norwegian Embassy is in London and I, as
the Ambassador, cover all parts of the United Kingdom. Given the
special historic relations and the flourishing economic relations
between Norway and Scotland, Norway in 1974 established a Consulate
General in Edinburgh. The Consul General and the Vice Consul are
both career diplomats and work under my authority and in close
co-operation with this Embassy. In addition, Norway has appointed
31 honorary consuls scattered all over the United Kingdom. In
Cardiff, Mr Samuel Charles Smith has served as our Consul since
1998 and I am happy to say that he will continue to do so.
I do not foresee that our representation in
Wales will be changed in the foreseeable future. Given the level
of the excellent relations we already enjoy, I believe that both
Wales and Norway are well served with the present arrangement.
Tarald O Brautaset
The Ambassador
