Select Committee on Welsh Affairs Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

Letter from Harlequin Agency on behalf of Bryn Terfel

Thank you for your letter of 29 November 2000 to Bryn Terfel, regarding the inquiry, "Wales in the World" which is currently being conducted by The House of Commons Welsh Affairs Committee.

I hope this reply is not arriving you too late, but Mr Terfel has asked me to pass on his comments on the subject.

  He stated that:

"Within the world of opera, I'm aware that I have a very high profile worldwide - in Australia, American and in Europe. Whenever I'm singing overseas, I do make it very clear that I consider myself to be `Welsh' as opposed to `British'. In the same way, I have worked very closely alongside the Welsh Development Agency and the Welsh Tourist Board to promote Wales, and I feel very proud for doing so".
