Amendment by Mr Jack Straw welcoming the improved investment in the Prison Service and endorsing the measures being put in place to secure higher standards. (Agreed to, no division)

Debate - on an Opposition Motion by Mrs Angela Browning believing that the Liaison Committee's first report, Shifting the Balance, provides the right basis for the further development of the Select Committee system. (Negatived on division)
