Midwives

Sandra Gidley: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is, by regional health authority, (a) the total number of full-time and (b) part-time midwives and what the (i) modal, (ii) mean and (iii) median age is of midwives for each of the last three years for which figures are available. [48249]

Mr. Hutton: Regional Health Authorities were abolished in 1996. Information on midwives working full time and part time by Health Authority is shown in the table. The information about age is as follows.
