Arrangement of Clauses (Contents)

London Development Agency Bill

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

The Bill is promoted by the London Development Agency. The Bill will enable the London Development Agency to require information about property ownership.

Clause 1 recites the short title of the Bill and provides for the commencement of the Bill to be two months after Royal Assent.

Clause 2 provides a power for the London Development Agency to require information as to interests in land, by applying section 16 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 to the Agency. The power can only be exercised in connection with the acquisition or proposed acquisition of land by the Agency (whether compulsorily or by agreement).

EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS

In the view of the London Development Agency the provisions of the London Development Agency Bill are compatible with the Convention rights.
