Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 40

Supplementary memorandum from Friends of Marshall Street Baths, Soho

PRIMARY SCHOOLS THAT WERE FORMERLY USING MARSHALL STREET BATHS

ST GEORGE'S SCHOOL, HANOVER SQUARE

Years three, four, five and six used to each walk to the Marshall Street Baths every week all year round and spend half hour in the water each time.

Now only Year three swim. They need two coaches to take them to the Oasis pool in Camden. These are special needs coaches and sometimes there is not room for all the children. They only have 20 minutes in the water and only go for two terms a year.

ALL SOULS SCHOOL, FOLEY STREET

Only Year five now swim once a week at the Oasis pool in Camden. Previously Years four and five swam at Marshall Street.

SOHO PARISH SCHOOL, GREAT WINDMILL STREET

They are going to contact the committee with the details. Children now have to walk up the Charing Cross Road to the Oasis pool in Camden and it takes up the whole of Friday morning and uses more staff. The school is greatly inconvenienced.
